Web 2.0 and better search engine ranking.
Everybody says we are in Web 2.0 era. Wherever you go, you will find people talking about this great transformation. But the catch is that a lot of webmasters who use this term to define certain elements or happenings are not completely sure of what it actually means.
So what is Web 2.0?
Some people call it a marketing hype or a gimmick and some people are over-enthusiastic about the whole concept. Some people are ready to see it in the design and some people are looking to integrate it in their marketing mix to improve search engine rank.
However, if you think that Web 2.0 is a sudden technological change, you would be wrong. Nothing has happened all of a sudden that can be marked as Web 2.0. The shift towards Web 2.0 had begun much earlier when some websites started engaging the visitors with the content or to put it simple, a two way communication started.
In fact, web 2.0 is a platform where visitors are more important - be it Wiki, Blog, tagging or syndication, the opinion of general people have become more important. Alongside, webmasters have started giving more emphasis on user generated content (as in Forum).
And thus, we have seen a subtle change in the website designing parameters. For instance today the main parameter of website design is usability or better user experience rather than a great look. In fact this has become more important when Google started tracking user experience to evaluate a website’s ranking in the result page.
Rounded corner or glossy buttons can not be termed as a web 2.0 element. The found a place in design parameters because people love to see them.
Alongside, there had been a major change in the internet marketing mix and the list of SEO services provided by different companies. It will not be wrong if we say that today better user experience is a must for better search engine ranking.
